We had the delight of working with Nature Through Arts again this week. They are developing a prototype for an AR mobile app helping families learn about and get involved in some of our critical conservation challenges through creative play and strategy. They asked us to create a few artworks to accompany some of the games clue locations in Central park. Looking forward to seeing how the app progresses!

We are excited to announce that prints of Two Weeks at Pantless Cottage are now available online! This highly detailed and evocative imagining of a long abandoned, recently occupied Mokau cottage is populated with kiwi vernacular and a subtle portentous narrative. This is the first of a series of prints we will be releasing, so stay tuned for more!

This month started with a mix of emotions. After leaving Aoraki Biv a bit stranded lately we noticed it had taken on a bit of damage, both time and human related. With a resigned air we decided to take Aoraki down, leaving just the base to remain as a viewing platform. It's been a good 2 and a half years of watching her make a mark on that patch of mostly neglected greenbelt, weathering with time and use and gathering the scars to prove it. We will help the story live on by creating a memento to share... watch this space.

This month marked the end of the 100 day creative challenge for the Imagine My City project which we celebrated with an exhibition. Over the past week we have showcased the children's final artworks and our Extend Yourself works in the space at Seventeen Tory St that we helped design and curate. We also had an artist talk with Sophie Jerram which was well attended and engaging. A perfect way to wrap up a huge group effort.

Today we ran a workshop with some of the kids doing the Imagine My City 100 Day Challenge. The weather was nice so we worked outside building and decorating letters from sticks and flowers to spell out Imagine. The kids had a great time using their imagination and getting their hands dirty! The final letters will be on display at the upcoming exhibition at Seventeen Tory St.

This year we were delighted to be asked to contribute to the latest issue of The Vernacularist by Depot Press; Urban - Rural, The Great Divide? This issue was edited by Louise Evans who in her editorial wrote about our piece,
"In Kemi Niko & Co.'s Pragmatic Fantasy, they express a reconciliation of the 'yearning.' Their relationship's foundation is the meeting of two country souls, yet they are open to the generosity of the urban, its resources and opportunities. Now essentially urban-rural beings, the acceptance of this hybrid frees them. 'To live by an ethos alone you must have the courage to take hold of the gifts you are presented with. Not one human on earth has the privilege to ask for the body or location they are born into.'"

Early in the summer we got involved in the Transitional Economic Zone of Porirua (TEZA) run by public art curators Letting Space. On the fifth day of the week long schedule of projects and events we gave a short presentation on our work in Rolleston Heights from 2013-16.

Find out about TEZA and see images from day 5 here.

Over the weekend we had a great time taking part in the Nature Through Arts launch event in Rolleston Heights. Under the expertise of the Binge Culture Collective the one day event brought together local characters (including us) and scientists to great success. 50+ kids had a fantastic time chasing a rouge moa around the park, sparking their interest for nature and creativity.

Shaun Barnett came along to the picnic launch of our book in March and wrote a great article about the project. Miniature huts (and hikes) was published in the July issue of Wilderness Magazine. Readers also had the opportunity to win one of five copies of All Materials Salvaged in the crossword competition.

Art critic Mark Amery published an excellent review of our Miniature Hikes project, on the Big Idea website. A Treasure Hunt begins...
"We treasure the little things because they connect us: a passing comment, a fleeting sighting, or a found object that fits in the hand. They are often shared rather than owned. In summer, moving more outside our usual habitat, I suspect we have more space for these things."
